Collision Pros, Inc. celebrated the reopening of their Paradise store following the Camp Fire with its first “Keys to the Future” car giveaway. Terra Hill, a Camp Fire survivor with a shocking story who still recovering from severe injuries was awarded the gift of a fully restored late-model Subaru Forester, lovingly restored and painted by Collision Pros own staff from it’s newly reopened Paradise store, who lost their own homes in the fire. Photos available upon request.

Collision Pros worked closely with locally based charity, Northern Valley Catholic Social Service, to determine criteria and manage the application process. After carefully selecting a small pool of finalists, Collision Pros’ own Paradise-based employees selected the winner. This giveaway was also sponsored by CSAA Insurance, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Maita Cars. Northern Valley Catholic Social Service was recently awarded a federal grant to hire and manage case management and long-term recovery for victims of the Camp Fire. Rules for Eligibility are listed online here.

“We are so honored to be able to help make life a bit easier for Terra as she continues her injury
treatment and just tries to get back to a sense of normal life,” said Brian vonTress, owner of Collision Pros.

The recipient, Terra Hill, a single mother who now lives in Chico, was severely burned (50% of her body sustained 3rd degree burns, 25% sustained 2nd degree burns). Due to the severity and urgency of her injuries, Terra was put into an induced coma by medical staff immediately after the fire, while still unidentified, and was briefly on the deceased list. She is on a very slow road to recovery due to the severity of her injuries while still caring for her children as a single mother. She will receive a fully refurbished vehicle that will help her have reliable transportation to get to her many medical appointments with specialists at U.C. Davis in Sacramento. Her burns have caused lifelong disabling injuries so continuing treatment is critical.

“It has been a tremendous challenge to make the commute to my doctor’s appointments with
specialists in Sacramento every week with a very unreliable vehicle,” said Hill. “I’m very grateful for this generous donation. It will help me in so many ways.”

Collision Pros was a generous employer for its Paradise-based team affected by the Camp Fire. They immediately set up a GoFundMe, donated generously to it as a company and raised more than $50,000. Collision Pros also kept Paradise employees on payroll while the business was rebuilt and now is ready to reopen.
