Team PRP’s nationwide network of independent automobile recyclers continues its robust expansion, recently approving another new member. The addition of B & B Auto Salvage, Inc., located in Rapid City, SD, brings the current partnership total of Team PRP to 134 members.

This latest inclusion allows Team PRP to serve the Dakotas and Eastern Montana, providing complete coverage across the country.  Mike Kunkel, chairman of the Team PRP national board of directors, conveyed his pleasure in welcoming this newest facility to the network.  “B & B Auto Salvage began their business in 1958, and has continually shown that their values and business practices match perfectly with those of Team PRP.  We could not be happier to partner with such a great group of people while we expand into another new market that will strengthen our brand.”

Beginning as an auto repair facility over 50 years ago, known then as B & H Auto Repair, the business has since transformed into an auto recycling facility. Earl Bennington opened the family-owned business; his son, Tom, joined the business after discharge from the Army in 1965. Tom’s daughter, Theresa Bennington, became involved in 1994; Theresa now serves as the corporation’s president. There are 13 full-time employees working for the company today.

A massive flood in 1972, which took the lives of 238 people, had severely impacted many Rapid City businesses; however, the devastation ultimately served as an opportunity for B & B Auto Salvage to relocate and attain the property they operate on today. Though B & B owns 40 acres of property, they operate on half of that land.

In 2002, Theresa Bennington established 5 States Auto Auction, which is a Copart National Network Affiliate.  B & B became the first ARA Gold Recycler in the state of South Dakota. They are also members of the South Dakota Auto Body and Auto Dealers and the National Salvage Pool Association, along with several other affiliations.

“It’s a pleasure to connect with other top-notch automotive recyclers,” shared president of B & B, Theresa Bennington. “Team PRP and B & B are well-matched, and we know that teaming together will bring about even greater efficiency and value to our customers.”

Stacy Bartnik, Team PRP’s Executive Director, also expressed enthusiasm concerning the addition of B & B Auto Salvage. “The second-to-none vision, values, and standards of Team PRP have consistently attracted first-rate facilities, and B & B Auto Salvage, Inc. is no exception.  We know, too, that this addition strengthens our ability to better service collision and mechanical repairers. Team PRP partners across the country work proudly together in a way that strengthens individual businesses, creates success as a group, and elevates the automotive recycling industry as a whole. ”
