Sterling Autobody donated shirts and baseball caps and supplied Field Day prizes, including an I-Pad and gift cards. Sterling will also match the day’s donations and will be refurbishing a vehicle for a local Moore family.
As part of the Field Day event students traced their hands and wrote heartfelt messages of support to the students of Plaza Towers Elementary. They also joined voices to sing “Lean on Me”, and a taped recording will be sent along with their donations.
Jackie Ferrier, Senior National Account Manager at Sterling Autobody and her sister Vanessa, a physical education teacher at Indian Valley came up with the idea for the June 10th school fundraiser. The Student Council embraced the idea and enthusiasm for the opportunity to support fellow students blossomed. “I didn't expect these kids to care so much”, said Jackie. “The feelings they expressed and the love that was put into the messages written on their hands went so much deeper than I would have thought. There was true excitement in the weeks building up to their field day. It was completely contagious.”
