The mother, Rachel, was nominated by Parent Involvement Coordinator Sallie D'Attilio from Manchester Head Start Preschool Center, where Rachel’s daughter is currently enrolled, to receive the car. “Rachel takes public transportation, traveling two hours each way, from Manchester to her job in Glastonbury,” says D'Attilio.
“Rachel works very hard to provide her daughter with a better life, is responsible, and very goal oriented. When I heard about this opportunity I knew right away Rachel would make an excellent candidate.”
Representatives from CCC, Pete’s CARSTAR, Farmer’s Insurance, LKQ Corporation, and Manchester Head Start attended the event. Sgt. Tom Field, who heads the Child Car Safety Seat program for South Windsor Police Dept’s Community Outreach program, provided a car seat and demonstrated the correct positioning and use.

Head Start
