PCG and Northwood University announce new automotive digital marketing course

Aug. 18, 2015
The two organizations will roll out a new course and curriculum based on PCG’s book, “Mastering Automotive Digital Marketing,” beginning in August, the start of Northwood’s Fall 2015 semester.
With digital elements increasingly becoming a standard and integral part of companies’ marketing initiatives, the need for marketers well versed in this area is a must, particularly in the automotive industry. Now, PCG Companies, together with Northwood University’s accredited Automotive Marketing and Management program, announce a new university-business partnership aimed at providing Northwood students with digital marketing experience. The two organizations will roll out a new course and curriculum based on PCG’s book, “Mastering Automotive Digital Marketing,” beginning in August, the start of Northwood’s Fall 2015 semester.

In the past, the concept of digital marketing for the automotive industry had only been touched upon in traditional curriculum. Now that the need for digital marketing experience is solidly at the forefront of today’s business environment, Northwood University leadership decided to take the next step to ensure that its students were trained and ready as they enter the job market, now and into the future.

Students who enroll in this in-depth class focused on digital marketing skills for the automotive industry will learn a variety of skills through live, classroom instruction and through access to the online PCG Learning Center. This learning center contains multiple self-paced learning modules with such course titles as “Fundamentals of Digital Marketing,” “Google Analytics for Car Dealers,” “Video Marketing Strategies,” and a variety of others.

Glenn Pasch, partner and CEO of PCG, will lead this new course at Northwood University, along with Elgie Bright, assistant professor and chair of Northwood University’s Automotive Marketing and Management degree program.

“When I am developing a course for students, the primary component to the structure is relevance,” Bright said. “Partnering with Glenn and PCG to design this Automotive Digital Marketing course instantly made it relevant. Glenn is not only an outstanding teacher; his contribution to his clients’ success is well documented. The students will be gaining insights and direction from a proven leader. Northwood University is always proud to have the automotive industry’s best in the classroom, and we’ve done it again with Glenn and PCG.”

Pasch said he is eager to get started on teaching this course – a dream that quickly became reality when connections Pasch had with the Southland Motor Car Dealer Association (SMCDA) pointed in him in the university’s direction.

“When I spoke to Elgie Bright about what PCG had been doing in terms of educating dealership employees on digital marketing, he asked if I would be interested in creating a course for his students,” Pasch said. “Elgie told me that the digital component was a necessary piece to prepare Northwood’s students for the current business-marketing climate when they graduate. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be part of this inaugural class.”
