During Industry Week and NACE in Anaheim, California, the Collision Industry Foundation (CIF) gave back to the local community by working Thursday morning at the Orange County Food Bank. Five board members and one spouse — plus two full-time Food Bank volunteers — filled over 500 boxes with essential foods for the Food Bank to give away. CIF President, Bill Shaw of PPG, said, "Although our vision is to provide emergency relief for collision repair professionals, we like to reach out to and support the communities that we visit.   This  was the perfect opportunity to support Orange County which hosted an excellent industry week for us."

Joining Bill Shaw were CIF Vice President Kelly Broderick of Dedoes Industries, Treasurer Cheryl Boswell of DCR Systems, Trustee Petra Schroeder of Collisionista, Trustee John Bosin of Collisionist and John's wife, Elaine Bosin.  Everyone agreed that the work was invigorating, deeply satisfying and fun.

CIF intends to continue these outreach efforts and will ask other industry members to join them.  As Shaw says, "The sense of purpose is profound, the camaraderie excellent and the work itself is soul-satisfying.  It's the perfect break in a week filled with meetings, conferences and exhibits."

The aim of the Orange County Food Bank is to make a positive impact in people's lives by helping them meet basic needs and strengthen their support system. The OC Food Bank works with nearly 400 local charities, soup kitchens, and community organizations to
end hunger and malnutrition. The OC Food Bank provides donated food, USDA commodities, and purchased food to non-profit agencies in Orange County that serve low-income families and individuals. Annually, the OC Food Bank is able to distribute more than 20 million pounds of food.

About CIF: The Collision Industry Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable foundation dedicated to raising, managing and donating funds while fulfilling the philanthropic goals and needs of the collision industry and the communities they serve.  The foundation was established in 2001 to allow for tax-deductible contributions for industry projects such as Leave Something Behind and Crash Hunger.
