New dates for Automechanika Chicago 2017 announced

Nov. 3, 2015
As a biennial event, the second edition of Automechanika Chicago will take place July 26 – 28, 2017 at McCormick Place West in Chicago.

Earlier this year, Messe Frankfurt, producer of Automechanika, the leading international brand in the automotive service industry, and UBM Advanstar, one of the largest tradeshow organizers in the U.S., launched Automechanika Chicago, the first Automechanika event held in the United States. As a biennial event, the second edition of Automechanika Chicago will take place July 26 – 28, 2017 at McCormick Place West in Chicago.

The largest trade show dedicated to the automotive aftermarket industry and high-end technical training opened this past April to a successful turnout with a diverse group of exhibiting companies and nearly 6,000 attendees. More than 450 exhibitors from 23 countries showcased the newest tools, equipment and products for the automotive industry.

"After the success of our inaugural event, the reception from the industry has been overwhelming and we are excited to announce the dates for 2017,” commented Bridget Ferris, Automechanika Chicago Show Director. “This multi-faceted decision was based on industry feedback as well as our desire to offer suitable timing on the calendar that will fit the schedules of exhibitors and attendees from the U.S. and around the globe.  In addition to the change in time frame, we are pleased to share our plans of a new day pattern to increase ROI for our exhibitors and expand traffic across the show floor.  Automechanika Chicago 2017 will run on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday show structure with training being held Thursday – Saturday allowing for more attendance and engagement on the show floor.  Along with new, exciting features and more training opportunities on the horizon for the second edition, we are confident Automechanika Chicago will continue to address the needs of the automotive industry and we look forward to another rewarding show."

The 2015 event was the largest training event for shop owners, technicians and educators within service repair and collision repair. The inaugural event hosted more than 100 seminars and workshops with over 2,000 shop owners and technicians attending the sessions. Automechanika Chicago will continue to serve the industry through education in 2016 leading up to the 2017 trade show and conference.  Opportunities for shop owners and technicians to increase their knowledge base will be available through several local training seminars, as well as online webinars.

“The need for training among shop owners and technicians has never been greater,” said Jim Savas, VP and GM of the Automotive Group at UBM Advanstar. “Vehicles today are increasingly complex with the influx of new materials for the body structures, complex engine diagnostics and rapidly evolving communications platforms. It’s difficult for even the most skilled technicians to keep up, much less those who find it difficult to get out of the shop and into training. Automechanika Chicago is committed to properly training our workforce, so we plan to conduct single-day events next year to do our part for the betterment of the industry. Knowing how to properly repair vehicles isn’t a problem for the next generation of shop owners and technicians. It’s a problem for the repairers of today.”
